Liverpool Contract Tracker: When Every Player’s Deal Expires

Liverpool entered a new chapter in the summer of 2024 as Jurgen Klopp’s legendary reign came to an end, with Dutchman Arne Slot stepping in to take charge. Despite the managerial change, the Reds quickly hit their stride, storming to the top of the Premier League table under Slot’s leadership.

However, looming uncertainty over the futures of several key players casts a shadow over the club’s early success. Club icons Virgil van Dijk, Mohamed Salah, and Trent Alexander-Arnold are all approaching the final year of their contracts, which expire in June 2025. If new deals are not secured soon, Liverpool risk losing them on free transfers next summer.

Liverpool’s contract situation extends beyond these star names. Goalkeeper Alisson is tied down until 2027, while backup Caoimhin Kelleher’s contract runs until 2026. Defenders Ibrahima Konate and Andrew Robertson are both signed through 2026, but Alexander-Arnold and Van Dijk’s unresolved futures remain major concerns. Promising young defender Jarell Quansah is under contract until 2029, offering some long-term stability.

In midfield, Liverpool have secured several key assets to long-term deals. Alexis MacAllister, Dominik Szoboszlai, and Ryan Gravenberch are all contracted until 2028, while Curtis Jones and Harvey Elliott are tied down until 2027. However, Tyler Morton’s contract status remains unclear.

The attacking lineup also offers a mix of security and uncertainty. Federico Chiesa, Darwin Nunez, and Cody Gakpo are signed through 2028, but Salah’s deal expiring next summer remains a pressing issue. Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz have contracts until 2027, while young forward Ben Doak is on loan, with his deal running until 2026.

Liverpool’s immediate on-pitch success under Slot is encouraging, but the club’s long-term stability hinges on resolving these contract situations. The futures of Salah, Van Dijk, and Alexander-Arnold will be key to determining whether Liverpool’s new era continues to thrive or faces an early setback.
