From Madrid Rejection to Arsenal Ambition: Baturina on Gunners’ Radar

Arsenal are reportedly monitoring Dinamo Zagreb’s rising star Martin Baturina ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window, as Mikel Arteta prepares for another ambitious rebuild to strengthen the squad for the 2025-26 season.

According to TBR Football, the Gunners have joined a growing list of top European clubs—including Chelsea, Manchester City, and Manchester United—in pursuit of the 22-year-old Croatian midfielder. Baturina, often compared to Real Madrid icon Luka Modric for his vision and technical prowess, has made a name for himself both domestically and internationally, having earned 11 caps for Croatia to date.

Last summer, the playmaker turned down a potential move to Real Madrid, choosing to stay at Dinamo Zagreb for another year to continue his development. However, Baturina is now expected to make a move abroad, with several elite clubs vying for his signature.

Despite Arsenal’s interest, the North London side may prioritize other targets. FootballTransfers reports that Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi and Rosenborg prodigy Sverre Nypan remain high on Arteta’s wishlist, particularly as the club prepares for the likely departures of Thomas Partey and Jorginho.

Baturina’s current Estimated Transfer Value stands at around €20.3 million, with a market range between €18.2m and €22.3m—potentially a bargain for a player of his calibre and future potential.

In addition to midfield reinforcements, Arsenal are also expected to pursue a new left winger and centre forward. Athletic Club’s Nico Williams and Sporting CP’s Viktor Gyökeres are among the high-profile names linked with a move to the Emirates, though Arsenal will face fierce competition from domestic and European rivals.

A new back-up goalkeeper is also on the agenda, with current loanee Neto set to return to Bournemouth after his spell in North London.

With a busy summer ahead, Arsenal’s interest in Baturina signals their intent to blend youth and quality as they push to compete on multiple fronts next season.
