Chelsea’s Summer Targets: 5 Potential Signings to Watch

Chelsea’s ambitious transfer strategy under Clearlake Capital and Todd Boehly shows no signs of slowing down, with the Blues poised for another high-spending summer in 2025. Manager Enzo Maresca has already secured deals for Dario Essugo, Mike Penders, Estevao Willian, and Kendry Paez, all set to join the squad this year. Geovany Quenda will follow in 2026, but Chelsea’s recruitment drive is far from over.

Marc Guehi (Crystal Palace)

Chelsea are targeting a new centre-back this summer, with Marc Guehi emerging as a top priority. Guehi, who came through Chelsea’s academy before joining Crystal Palace in 2021, is seen as an ideal solution amid the uncertain futures of Axel Disasi, Trevoh Chalobah, and Renato Veiga. Chelsea face competition from Real Madrid for Dean Huijsen, but the Blues remain focused on bringing Guehi back to west London.

Nico Williams (Athletic Club)

Athletic Club’s Nico Williams has caught Chelsea’s attention as they seek a right-footed winger. Williams, also wanted by Arsenal and Barcelona, is viewed as a potential upgrade on Mykhailo Mudryk, who has struggled to find consistent form. Talks are reportedly underway as Chelsea look to strengthen their attacking options.

Liam Delap (Ipswich Town)

Ipswich Town’s Liam Delap is another key target for Chelsea. The young striker has impressed under Kieran McKenna, attracting interest from several top Premier League clubs. Maresca, who worked with Delap at Manchester City’s academy, is pushing to secure the England U21 international as Chelsea search for a reliable goal scorer.

Victor Osimhen (Napoli – on loan at Galatasaray)

Chelsea’s long-standing interest in Victor Osimhen persists despite the Nigerian’s loan move to Galatasaray. A deal to bring Osimhen to Stamford Bridge collapsed last summer, but Chelsea are expected to renew their pursuit. However, Manchester United are also monitoring the situation, setting up a potential bidding war.

Jadon Sancho (Manchester United – on loan at Chelsea)

Jadon Sancho’s loan from Manchester United includes an obligation to buy clause, which Chelsea plan to activate at the end of the 2024-25 season. Despite a dip in form after a promising start, Chelsea remain committed to signing Sancho permanently. If the deal goes through, the Blues would retain the option to sell him in the future.

Chelsea’s aggressive transfer approach under Boehly and Clearlake Capital signals their intent to challenge for major trophies next season.
