Pop superstar Taylor Swift is reportedly on the verge of securing a groundbreaking deal with Barcelona to feature on the club’s jersey for the upcoming El Clasico in May. While the 35-year-old music icon won’t be stepping onto the pitch, her name could take center stage in one of the biggest football clashes of the season.
According to reports from RAC1, Swift has edged out other major artists, including Ed Sheeran and Travis Scott, to become Barcelona’s jersey sponsor for the highly anticipated match against Real Madrid. The showdown is scheduled for the weekend of May 11 and could prove decisive in the LaLiga title race, with both Barca and Madrid currently neck-and-neck at the top of the table — although the Catalans have a game in hand.
“Taylor Swift is the top choice to feature on Barcelona’s shirt during the May Clasico,” RAC1 reported. “The agreement is pending only the final details.”
This potential collaboration is part of Barcelona’s ongoing €280 million sponsorship deal with Spotify, which was signed in 2022. The agreement includes both the main shirt logo and the naming rights to Camp Nou, underscoring the club’s close ties with the music industry.
Barcelona has already showcased some of the biggest names in music on their jerseys through this partnership. Drake’s iconic owl logo from his OVO brand appeared on the team’s shirts for a Clasico in October 2022, while The Rolling Stones featured on Barcelona’s jerseys during a match last autumn. Earlier this season, Coldplay’s logo was emblazoned on the club’s kit as Barca cruised to a 4-0 victory over Real Madrid at the Bernabeu. A limited edition of 1,899 Coldplay-themed jerseys was sold, with proceeds supporting the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR).
Now, Barcelona is hoping Swift’s global star power will provide both a financial and psychological boost as they prepare for one of the most pivotal matches of the season. If finalized, Swift’s appearance on the iconic Blaugrana shirt would mark yet another high-profile fusion of music and football on one of the sport’s grandest stages.
