Barcelona’s Transfer Clean-Out: Five Players on Their Way Out

Barcelona boasts one of the most promising squads in world football, with Hansi Flick overseeing a talented pool of young stars. However, several fringe players have struggled to secure regular playing time under Flick, prompting expectations of a squad reshuffle after the 2024-25 season. Here are five players who could be heading for the exit this summer:

Andreas Christensen
Since his free transfer from Chelsea in 2022, Christensen has impressed when fit. However, persistent injuries have sidelined the Danish defender for much of the season. With stiff competition from Ronald Araujo, Pau Cubarsi, and Inigo Martinez, Barcelona is reportedly open to selling Christensen to ease their wage bill. Finding a buyer may be challenging due to his injury history, but a departure seems likely.

Ansu Fati
Once hailed as Barcelona’s next superstar, Fati’s rise has been hampered by injuries. Lamine Yamal’s emergence has further limited his chances under Flick. Fati has made limited appearances this season, and his agent, Jorge Mendes, could facilitate a move to Wolverhampton Wanderers, given the club’s history of dealings with Mendes’ clients. A permanent transfer appears inevitable.

Pau Victor
Barcelona signed Pau Victor from Girona for €2.7 million following a successful loan spell with the club’s B team. However, the striker has struggled for game time behind Robert Lewandowski. With Barcelona aiming to sign a long-term replacement for Lewandowski, Victor may seek a move to secure regular minutes elsewhere. Selling him would also help raise crucial transfer funds.

Oriol Romeu
Romeu returned to Barcelona after a standout season at Girona but failed to establish himself in Flick’s plans. He managed just 11 La Liga starts before being loaned back to Girona, where he has regained form. With one year left on his contract, Girona is reportedly keen on making the move permanent this summer.

Clement Lenglet
After three consecutive loan spells at Tottenham Hotspur, Aston Villa, and now Atletico Madrid, Lenglet is set to finally leave Barcelona. He has impressed under Diego Simeone, and Atletico may consider making the move permanent. Either way, his time at Camp Nou appears to be over after 160 appearances for the club.

Barcelona’s summer overhaul is set to begin, with these exits expected to create space for fresh talent and financial flexibility.
